The Ukrainian commemorative coin was issued before the 70th Anniversary of beating the Nazies off the city of Nikopol. The special 5-hryvnia piece was launched in 2004 by the Bank of Ukraine. The obverse of the piece contains information about the denomination and the issuing year; the Trident along with the name of the bank of issue are placed there too. The center of the piece is occupied by the image of tanks which liberated Nikopol. The table with the name of the city is pictured behind the tanks. The coin's reverse bears the big five-point star as a symbol of Red Army and the laurel branch as a symbol of the victory. The “70 years” inscription is placed inside the star frame. The year of defeating the Nazis in Nikopol is indicated below the star while the theme of the piece is explained in Ukrainian along the rim.
