The collectible nickel silver coin of Ukraine was minted in 2009 to celebrate the Astronomy Year and the significant Ukrainian scientist Yuriy Drohobych. The latter was famous astrologist of the 15th century and the writer of the oldest printed book by an author from Ukraine, which was edited circa 1483. The coin shows the portrait of the scientist on its reverse next to the dates of his living and his name including his birth surname of Kotermak. The rest of the surface is occupied by the images related to astronomy and other sciences; the theme of the year is mentioned as well. The obverse of the piece is designed in the similar way using space images of stars and planets. There is a figure of a Greek muse of astronomy depicted standing by the side too. The name of the issuing country and the denomination of the piece are minted there along with the year of producing as usual.
