The Lunar year of the Horse is the subject of the precious coin minted for Tuvalu in 2014. Being the symbol of strength and struggle, the Horse was the patron of 2014 and is of those born in any Lunar Year of the Horse. The Chinese consider the Horse sign to be noble and strong animal and so are the people of the sign. Besides, the 1-dollar piece struck in pure silver contains the wishing of wealth. The colored image of the Horse striking the golden coins with its hoof occupies the central place on the reverse of the coin. Beautiful image of the Horse is completed by the Chinese traditional ornament going along the rim of the piece. The obverse of the coins is traditional for the states of the Commonwealth; it has the effigy of the British monarch along with denomination and the year of minting. The name of the issuing state is placed there as well.
