A new coin.
The 1980 Malaysia 1 Ringgit copper-nickel coin features Parliament House, one of the country’s most recognizable symbols of government and national architecture. Certified PCGS PR68DCAM, this impressive proof displays strong Deep Cameo contrast and finely defined details. The architectural side presents the Parliament complex with its tall rectangular tower, numerous rows of windows, projecting upper section and adjoining low-rise assembly building. A triangular roof structure, long horizontal façade, curved foundation element and dramatic multi-point starburst complete the modern composition. A scalloped ornamental border encircles the design. The opposite side centers a large $1 denomination beneath MALAYSIA, accompanied by delicate floral ornaments on both sides with blossoms, leaves and curling stems. The date 1980 is positioned below between two small dots, again framed by the scalloped border. Combining politics, architecture and national symbolism, this high-grade PCGS-certified issue is an excellent addition to a collection of Malaysian or modern Asian coinage.
