The 2009 Mexico 1 Onza Libertad is a .999 fine silver bullion coin combining modern Mexican numismatic artistry with the enduring symbolism of liberty, certified MS66 by PCGS. The reverse depicts Winged Victory, inspired by the Angel of Independence monument in Mexico City, standing on her architectural pedestal with sweeping feathered wings, an extended arm and flowing classical drapery. Behind her rise the famous volcanic peaks Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl above a broad landscape with fields and small plants. The inscriptions include 1 ONZA PLATA PURA, 2009, LEY .999 and the Mo mint mark. The obverse centers on Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle gripping a snake while perched on a prickly pear cactus, with oak and laurel branches below and ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS above. Ten historic versions of the Mexican eagle emblem surround the central arms, displaying changing eagle poses, wreaths and heraldic arrangements. The MS66 certification, fine silver composition and elaborate national imagery make this Libertad a desirable certified collectible.
