Website description:
This Mexico 100 Pesos 2014 bimetallic coin from the Numismatic Heritage series recalls the coinage of King Carlos IV and the Spanish colonial era in the Americas. Its central design reproduces an historic 1806 issue associated with Guiana, showing the right-facing profile of Carlos IV with long hair tied behind his neck. A prominent oval countermark appears over the portrait, while fragments of the original royal legend and the date 1806 remain visible around the historic coin design. The golden-colored outer ring bears “HERENCIA NUMISMATICA DE MEXICO,” the Mo Mexico City mint mark, 2014 date, $100 denomination and a dotted border. The opposite side displays Mexico’s national emblem in sharp relief: an eagle with spread wings holding a snake while perched on a prickly pear cactus, complemented by cactus fruits, oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon and “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.” Carlos IV ruled Spain from 1788 to 1808, a period represented by extensive colonial coinage throughout Spanish America. This distinctive bimetallic issue combines royal-era numismatic heritage with modern Mexican symbolism and makes an appealing addition to a historical world coin collection.
