Mexico 1/20 onza Libertad Angel Independence KM-609 PR 68 PCGS silver coin 1996

This 1996 Mexico 1/20 Onza Libertad KM-609 silver coin is a Proof issue certified PR68 by PCGS, combining Mexico’s iconic Libertad imagery with a brilliant collector finish. The reverse depicts the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing on her monumental column with finely detailed wings, flowing drapery and an outstretched arm holding a wreath. Behind the figure are the volcanic peaks Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, the Valley of Mexico landscape and small foreground plants. Legends identify 1/20 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 1996, LEY .999 and the Mexican Mint mark. The obverse displays Mexico’s national coat of arms: a feathered eagle grasping a serpent while perched on a prickly pear cactus with multiple pads and fruits. Oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon complete the emblem, surrounded by ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS and a geometric border. Struck in .999 fine silver and graded PCGS PR68, this attractive Proof Libertad is an appealing addition to Mexican silver and certified world coin collections.
