This 1992 Mexico 1/20 Onza Libertad KM-542 is a .999 fine silver coin certified MS68 by PCGS, combining the celebrated Libertad design with an impressive high Mint State grade. The reverse portrays the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing with wide feathered wings, a raised wreath and flowing classical drapery. Behind her rises the Mexican landscape with the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes, while 1/20 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 1992 MEXICO, LEY .999 and the Mexican Mint mark complete the design. The obverse displays Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle with layered wings and plumage grasping a serpent while perched on a prickly pear cactus. Detailed cactus pads and fruits appear below, surrounded by oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon, the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS and a decorative border. The Angel symbolizes liberty and Mexico’s independence, making this fractional Libertad an attractive piece of Mexican numismatic heritage.
