This 1992 Mexico 1/20 Onza Libertad KM-542 silver coin is a high-grade bullion issue certified MS68 by PCGS. The reverse features the classic Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, shown with fully extended feathered wings, raised wreath and flowing drapery. The figure stands before the distinctive volcanic peaks Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, while the legends identify 1/20 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 1992, MEXICO and LEY .999, together with the Mexican Mint mark. The obverse presents Mexico’s national coat of arms: a powerful eagle with layered plumage grasping a serpent in its beak and talon while standing on a prickly pear cactus. Numerous cactus pads and fruits appear below, framed by oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon, the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS and a geometric border. Struck in .999 fine silver and preserved in impressive PCGS MS68 condition, this early fractional Libertad offers an appealing combination of Mexican history, national symbolism and collectible quality.
