Mexico 2 onzas Libertad Angel of Independence KM-614 MS 67 PCGS silver coin 1996

This 1996 Mexico 2 Onzas Libertad, KM-614, is a .999 fine silver issue certified PCGS MS67, combining Mexico’s independence heritage with an elaborate display of national symbolism. The reverse portrays the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing atop the Independence Column with large feathered wings, an outstretched arm and finely modeled flowing drapery. Behind the monument stretch the Mexican valley and the famous volcanic peaks Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, complemented by cactus plants and distant landscape details. The inscriptions 2 ONZAS PLATA PURA, 1996, LEY .999 and the Mexico City Mint mark frame the composition. The obverse centers the Mexican national coat of arms, with an eagle gripping a serpent while perched on a prickly pear cactus above oak and laurel branches. Ten historic forms of Mexico’s eagle emblem surround the central arms, showing varied eagles, cactus arrangements, wreaths and heraldic details. The Libertad symbolizes freedom and Mexican independence, while the multiple coats of arms trace the evolution of national identity. Its superb PCGS MS67 grade makes this 1996 issue especially desirable for advanced Libertad and Mexican silver collections.
