This 1997 Mexico 1 Onza Libertad, KM#613, is a .999 fine silver bullion coin certified PCGS MS67, combining high-grade preservation with one of Mexico’s most celebrated numismatic designs. The obverse portrays the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing on her architectural pedestal with an outstretched arm, flowing classical drapery and large feathered wings. Behind the monument rise the Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes above a broad valley with mountain ridges, fields and small foreground plants. The inscriptions include 1 Onza, Plata Pura, 1997, Ley .999 and the Mexican Mint mark. The reverse carries Mexico’s national coat of arms: a detailed eagle gripping a serpent in its beak and talon while perched on a prickly pear cactus. Layered feathers, cactus pads and fruits, rocks, oak and laurel branches, leaves, berries, tied ribbon, Estados Unidos Mexicanos and a geometric border enrich the composition. Symbolizing independence and liberty, this MS67 Libertad is a desirable certified Mexican silver issue for bullion and world coin collectors.
