This Mexican silver medal dated 1923 honors Francisco "Pancho" Villa, the celebrated revolutionary commander known as the Centaur of the North. The obverse portrays Villa wearing his characteristic sombrero, mustache, jacket, ammunition belt, and boots, holding a rifle while riding a dramatically rearing horse. Detailed reins, saddle, stirrups, raised hooves, and flowing mane enhance the dynamic composition, accompanied by EL CENTAURO DEL NORTE. The reverse displays FRANCISCO VILLA, the dates 1877 and 1923, and two elaborate heraldic emblems: a crowned shield with a central tree, surrounded by decorative branches and ribbons, and a second shield featuring architectural and symbolic motifs. Villa commanded the Division of the North during the Mexican Revolution and became an enduring symbol of revolutionary struggle. Certified PCGS SP64, this silver medal combines historical significance, expressive engraving, and distinctive heraldry. An appealing collectible for enthusiasts of Mexican history.
