The obverse presents his detailed uniformed portrait, featuring a mustache, swept hair, embroidered military coat, epaulettes, and decorative buttons. Surrounding inscriptions commemorate his heroic resistance from March 16 to May 17 and the civilian population and army. The reverse displays Puebla's elaborate coat of arms, with a crowned architectural fortress, towers, flanking figures, Latin mottoes, and ornamental shield. The inscriptions PRIMER CENTENARIO DEL SITIO DE PUEBLA and 1863–1963 frame the design.
