A new coin.
This 1988 Mexico 500 Pesos copper-nickel coin celebrates Francisco I. Madero and features a distinctive broadstrike mint error, certified PCGS MS64. The obverse displays Madero's finely detailed portrait with swept-back hair, mustache, pointed beard and formal jacket, accompanied by the inscriptions Madero, 1988, $500 and the Mo mint mark. A geometric border is displaced toward the expanded outer edge, highlighting the striking error. Madero played a crucial role in launching the Mexican Revolution of 1910 and became president in 1911, advocating democratic reforms. The reverse presents Mexico's national coat of arms: a powerful eagle with extended feathered wings gripping a serpent while standing on a prickly pear cactus with rounded pads and fruits. Oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon, the inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS and a beaded border complete the composition. Its unusual broadstrike and certified Mint State condition make this historical coin a desirable collectible.
