Mexico 50 centavos Republic Pakal Palenque Error Double Clip MS63 PCGS coin 1983

This Mexico 50 Centavos coin from 1983 features a distinctive double clipped planchet mint error and is certified PCGS MS63. The obverse portrays an elaborately adorned indigenous ruler, with a prominent feathered headdress, curved plumes, circular ornaments, hanging tassels, large earrings, necklace and patterned clothing. The inscription CINCUENTA CENTAVOS surrounds the portrait, with the Mo mint mark and partially visible date below. The reverse displays Mexico's national coat of arms: an eagle grasping a serpent while standing on a prickly pear cactus with rounded fruits, surrounded by oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon and the ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS legend. Two clearly visible curved clips interrupt the coin's circular outline and portions of its inscriptions. Associated with Mexico's pre-Columbian heritage, this collectible combines historical imagery, an unusual minting defect and PCGS certification. An attractive addition to any world error coin collection.
