Mexico 1 onza Libertad Angel of Independence MS67 PCGS silver coin 1985

The 1985 Mexico 1 Onza Libertad is a .999 fine silver bullion coin from the classic early Libertad series, certified MS67 by PCGS. The reverse portrays Winged Victory with large feathered wings spread behind her, raising a laurel wreath in her right hand while holding broken chain links in her left, traditional symbols of triumph and freedom. Flowing classical drapery surrounds the figure, with a mountainous Mexican landscape in the background. The design includes 1 ONZA, PLATA PURA, the Mo mint mark, 1985, MEXICO and LEY .999, framed by a geometric border. The obverse presents Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle gripping a snake in its beak and talon while standing on a prickly pear cactus above rock and water, with oak and laurel branches tied by a ribbon below and ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS above. This particular example displays attractive natural toning around portions of the obverse perimeter. Its high MS67 grade, vintage design and distinctive appearance make it an appealing certified Mexican silver collectible.
