The 2004 Malawi 10 Kwacha commemorative coin honors Chen Shui-bian and his inauguration as President of the Republic of China. Certified PCGS PL65, it is struck in silvered bronze with selective gilding, creating an attractive contrast between bright outer fields and golden central motifs. One side presents a formal portrait of Chen Shui-bian wearing glasses, suit and tie, surrounded by commemorative text and small floral emblems. The opposite side features an architectural view of the Presidential Office Building, carefully rendered with its long façade, rows of windows and prominent central tower. Floral symbols, a beaded border and the 10 Kwacha denomination complete the composition. Chen Shui-bian served as President from 2000 to 2008 after previously serving as mayor of Taipei, becoming an important figure in Taiwan’s modern political history. Combining portraiture, architecture, political history and selective gilding, this unusual Malawi issue offers strong visual appeal and certified collectible quality.
