A new coin.
The 2009 Malawi 20 Kwacha Cultural Treasures silver coin is dedicated to the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and the Alexander Column, two celebrated landmarks of European art and architecture. Certified PCGS PR70DCAM, the coin combines a flawless Proof finish with vivid selective color. The reverse presents the monumental Alexander Column rising before the richly detailed green-and-white façade of the Winter Palace, with palace windows, architectural ornament, paved Palace Square and decorative classical elements at the side. The Alexander Column, designed by Auguste de Montferrand and unveiled in 1834, commemorates the victory over Napoleonic France. The obverse features Malawi’s coat of arms with heraldic shield and animal supporters above an outlined map locating St. Petersburg, together with the 20 Kwacha denomination and 2009 date. A superb PR70DCAM collectible combining museum heritage, architecture, history and world numismatics.
