Moldova 10 lei Red Book Wildlife Conservation Mink Otter Fauna silver coin 2003

This 2003 Moldova 10 Lei Proof silver coin celebrates the European Mink, a rare semi-aquatic mammal featured in Moldova's Red Book of protected wildlife. The reverse portrays a European mink standing on a fallen tree trunk beside flowing water, with its head turned toward the viewer, rounded ears, alert eyes, detailed fur, short legs, sharp claws and long tail. A fish emerging from the water, rippling waves, reeds, tree trunks and leafy branches create a detailed riverside habitat. Surrounding inscriptions read CARTEA ROSIE, NURCA EUROPEANA and Mustela lutreola. The obverse displays Moldova's national coat of arms, featuring an eagle holding a cross, olive branch and scepter, with a shield bearing an aurochs head, star, rose and crescent. The inscriptions REPUBLICA MOLDOVA, 2003 and 10 LEI complete the design. With its elegant Proof finish and important conservation theme, this silver coin is a wonderful addition to any wildlife collection.
