This Mauritius 5 Cents bronze coin from 1971 represents the country’s post-independence coinage and features Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse displays a right-facing crowned portrait of the young Queen, with carefully modeled hair, crown, necklace and neckline, surrounded by the legend identifying Elizabeth II. The reverse uses a clean, highly symmetrical design: a large numeral “5” dominates the center within a circular beaded border, while MAURITIUS, FIVE CENTS and the date 1971 form the surrounding inscription. Fine beading also frames the outer rim, emphasizing the classic character of the design. Elizabeth II was Queen of Mauritius from independence in 1968 until the country became a republic in 1992, making this issue part of an important period in Mauritian monetary history. Struck in bronze with Proof Deep Cameo surfaces, this example is certified PCGS PR65RD DCAM, combining strong visual contrast, warm bronze color and collectible certified quality.
