A new coin.
This 1949 Mauritius 1 Cent bronze coin, catalogued as KM-25, represents the island’s British colonial coinage under King George VI and is certified PCGS MS64 BN. The obverse features a left-facing crowned portrait of George VI, with finely modeled facial details, royal crown with arches and fleur-de-lis ornaments, and the surrounding legend KING GEORGE THE SIXTH. George VI reigned from 1936 to 1952, a period spanning World War II and major changes across the British Empire and Commonwealth. The reverse has a bold central numeral 1 enclosed by a beaded circle, surrounded by MAURITIUS, ONE CENT and the date 1949. Small rosette-like ornaments separate elements of the legend, while a denticled border frames both sides. The warm brown bronze surfaces give this historic colonial issue distinctive character. Its PCGS MS64 BN grade makes it especially appealing for collectors of Mauritius, George VI, British colonial and certified world coinage.
