The next piece of the Sumo wrestlers series launched in 2005 in Mongolia. The second 500 MNT proof silver coin depicts Onomatsu Midorinosuke, the 6th yokozuna of Sumo. Onomatsu was born in 1794 and died in 1852. Although his style of wrestling was often criticized, he was popular among his contemporaries. The colored image of Onomatsu in traditional Sumo garb is shown on the reverse of the coin. The Japan-style semicircular pattern surrounding him unites the item with the other coins of the Sumo wrestlers’ series. The year of issue is indicated below the image of the wrestler. The obverse of the coin bears the Mongolian Coat of Arms as well as the face value of the coin, the name of the country of origin, silver rate and weight of the item.
