Malta 100 liras set of 3 Three Wise Men of the East proof silver coins 2005

The Malta 100 Liras 2005 set of three silver Proof coins presents the Three Wise Men of the East in an evocative Nativity-themed composition. Each coin portrays one of the Magi—Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar—journeying beneath a brilliant guiding star and carrying a gift highlighted by a warm golden-colored insert. Caspar appears beside a camel and a sparse desert tree; Melchior is shown kneeling before a bearded companion, with a rustic shelter, seated figure and saddled horse in the distance; Balthasar walks through a desert landscape with a camel caravan, vegetation and distant buildings. Star-filled skies and textured ground unite the three scenes. The common reverse displays the emblem of the Sovereign Hospitaller Order of Malta: an eight-pointed Maltese cross within a circular shield, surrounded by laurel branches, a crown and ribbon, with the 100 Liras denomination. Struck in silver with contrasting Proof surfaces, this three-coin set combines Christian tradition, Biblical art, Magi imagery and Maltese heraldry in an unusual collectible presentation.
