A coin with some oxides, a capsule (please, check photos).
This 1996 Marshall Islands 50 Dollars silver coin celebrates the QJ “Advance Forward” steam locomotive and the history of railway engineering. The reverse presents the powerful locomotive in a detailed three-quarter view, with its circular smokebox front, twin lamps, large boiler, chimney, pilot, cylinders, driving wheels, connecting rods, piping, cab and tender clearly rendered. A dense plume of smoke rises dramatically above the train, while railway tracks extend beneath it. The inscriptions FIFTY DOLLARS, QJ “ADVANCE FORWARD” and 1996 complete the composition. The QJ was a major class of heavy steam locomotive developed for freight service in China, becoming an important representative of the country’s steam railway era. The obverse features the Marshall Islands seal with a central winged figure, radiant sun, palm tree, vegetation, traditional island symbols, sailing canoe, ocean waves and geometric motifs within an ornamental chain border. An appealing silver collectible for enthusiasts of locomotives, transport, engineering and world numismatics.
