The 1988 Marshall Islands 25 Dollars Greg Louganis “Twister” silver coin celebrates world-class diving and the exceptional precision of one of the sport’s most accomplished athletes. The obverse captures Louganis during a twisting dive, shown inverted with his legs extended tightly together, torso rotating and arms drawn into a compact position. The sculpted anatomy and uncluttered field focus attention on the athlete’s control in mid-air. Louganis became a four-time Olympic gold medalist, winning both springboard and platform events at the 1984 and 1988 Games. The reverse carries the elaborate Marshall Islands national seal, featuring a central winged angel, radiant sun, palm tree, tropical vegetation, traditional sailing canoe, ocean waves, geometric star motif, implements, woven ornament and a surrounding chain border. Struck in silver with contrasting Deep Cameo Proof surfaces, this specimen is certified PCGS PR69DCAM, an outstanding near-perfect grade. A compelling choice for collectors of sports, Olympic and certified world coinage.
