The 1989 Marshall Islands 50 Dollars First Manned Lunar Vehicle silver coin celebrates the Apollo era and humanity’s exploration of the Moon. The obverse shows a detailed Lunar Roving Vehicle on the rugged lunar surface, complete with four wheels, open framework, seats, equipment compartments and a large dish antenna. Beside the rover stands an astronaut in a spacesuit with helmet and life-support backpack, while a cratered celestial body, stars and small space motifs appear overhead. The scene recalls the Lunar Roving Vehicle first used during Apollo 15 in 1971, greatly extending the distance astronauts could explore and transport scientific equipment on the Moon. The reverse features the Marshall Islands national seal with a central winged figure, radiant sun, star, traditional sailing canoe, palm trees, island vegetation, ocean, maritime symbols, geometric navigation pattern and chain-style border. Struck in silver with Deep Cameo Proof surfaces and certified PCGS PR69DCAM, this near-perfect space coin combines lunar exploration, astronautics and technological history.
