This Mexico 1810 8 Reales silver coin, struck under King Ferdinand VII, is a remarkable piece of Spanish colonial history. Certified NGC AU58, it features the monarch's right-facing portrait with a laurel wreath tied by ribbons, detailed hair, military-style drapery and the surrounding royal inscription FERDIN VII DEI GRATIA with the date 1810. The reverse displays an elaborate crowned Spanish royal coat of arms, quartered shields with castles and lions, a central Bourbon emblem, the Granada pomegranate, and two Pillars of Hercules wrapped in banners. Additional legends identify the Spanish monarchy, denomination and minting marks. Ferdinand VII ruled during the Napoleonic Wars and the turbulent beginnings of Mexico's independence movement in 1810. This historic silver 8 Reales combines elegant engraving, colonial monetary heritage and desirable NGC certification, making it an excellent addition to a world coin collection.
