A new coin.
This 1976 Mexico 5 Pesos CuNi coin features an impressive triple clipped planchet mint error, certified PCGS MS64. The obverse presents a right-facing portrait of Vicente Guerrero, with wavy hair, prominent sideburns and an ornate military uniform decorated with floral embroidery. The CINCO PESOS inscription, 1976 date and Mexican mint mark surround the portrait. The reverse depicts Mexico's national coat of arms, featuring an eagle with outstretched wings holding a serpent while standing on a prickly pear cactus, surrounded by cactus fruits, oak and laurel branches, a ribbon and the ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS inscription. Three large curved clips interrupt the coin's circular outline, creating a striking and unusual minting variety. Guerrero was a leading figure in Mexico's independence movement and served as president in 1829, supporting the abolition of slavery. This certified Mint State error offers exceptional visual appeal and a fascinating piece of Mexican numismatic history.
