Mexico 5 pesos Republic Mint Error Clipped Planchet MS 62 PCGS CuNi coin 1976

This 1976 Mexico 5 Pesos CuNi coin features a distinctive clipped planchet mint error, certified MS62 by PCGS. The obverse displays a right-facing portrait of Vicente Guerrero, with carefully engraved curly hair, sideburns, facial features and an ornate military uniform decorated with floral patterns. The CINCO PESOS inscription and 1976 date surround the portrait. The reverse presents Mexico's national coat of arms, featuring an eagle with spread wings holding a serpent in its beak and talon while standing on a prickly pear cactus, with oak and laurel branches below and ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS above. A prominent curved section missing from the left edge demonstrates the clipped planchet error, affecting both sides of the coin. Guerrero was a leading figure in Mexico's independence struggle and became president in 1829. Combining historical significance, an unusual minting defect and PCGS certification, this coin offers a fascinating addition to any error collection.
