This 1993 Mexico 5 Pesos T2 silver coin from the Pre-Columbian series presents the Brasero Efigie, an elaborate ancient ceremonial effigy brazier associated with Mexico’s archaeological heritage. The reverse features the sculptural vessel with a broad modeled face, prominent eyes and nose, open mouth, ornamental ear elements and a textured lower body covered with raised circular details. Architectural forms rise behind the effigy, while the date 1993, Mexico City mint mark, “BRASERO EFIGIE” and N$5 denomination complete the composition. A continuous border of small pre-Columbian glyph-like motifs frames the design. The obverse displays Mexico’s national emblem: an eagle with spread wing grasping a snake while standing on a prickly pear cactus, surrounded by a wreath and “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.” The border repeats the same ancient motifs, with “1 ONZA DE PLATA LEY 0.999” below. Struck in .999 silver and certified PCGS MS68, this high-grade KM-648 Type 2 issue combines archaeological art, Mexican history and exceptional preservation.
