This 1993 Mexico 5 Pesos KM-569 silver coin belongs to the Pre-Columbian series dedicated to Veracruz and the remarkable archaeological heritage of El Tajín. The reverse reproduces a detailed ancient bas-relief, with a central ceremonial figure wearing an elaborate headdress and ornaments, flanked by two richly dressed figures. Architectural bands, scroll forms and repeating stepped geometric motifs frame the scene, accompanied by the 1993 date, Mexico City mint mark, “BAJORRELIEVE DE EL TAJIN” inscription and N$5 denomination. The obverse presents Mexico’s national emblem: a powerful eagle grasping a snake while perched on a prickly pear cactus, surrounded by oak and laurel branches. The entire composition is enclosed by a distinctive pre-Columbian geometric border, with the silver specification below. El Tajín was one of ancient Veracruz’s most important ceremonial centers, celebrated for monumental architecture, sculpted reliefs and sophisticated visual symbolism. Struck in .999 fine silver, KM-569 combines Mexican archaeology, indigenous art and numismatic craftsmanship in a highly collectible issue.
