This 1993 Mexico 20 Pesos bimetallic coin, KM-561, is the Longer Stems variety honoring Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a key figure in the beginning of Mexican independence. The portrait side presents Hidalgo facing left, with a high forehead, carefully engraved hair and distinctive facial profile. HIDALGO appears below, with the Mexican Mint mark and 1993 date at right. The golden-colored outer ring features the large $20 denomination, a geometric border and exceptionally long leafy wreath stems rising along both sides and tied with a ribbon at the base. The opposite side bears Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle with extended wing holding a coiled rattlesnake in its beak and talon while perched on a fruit-bearing prickly pear cactus. Oak and laurel branches tied below and ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS complete the composition. Hidalgo’s 1810 call for revolt became a defining moment in Mexico’s independence movement. Certified PCGS MS65, this attractive variety combines historical significance, national symbolism and specialized bimetallic collecting appeal.
