This 1985 Mexico 20 Pesos brass coin is a striking mint-error issue featuring Guadalupe Victoria, a leading figure of Mexican independence and the first president of the Mexican Republic, and is certified PCGS MS65. The portrait side shows Victoria facing forward, with his detailed hair, facial features and military-style clothing, accompanied by the large 20 Pesos denomination, 1985 date, Mo mint mark and G. VICTORIA signature. The visible mint error dramatically shifts the struck design, leaving a broad unstruck crescent of planchet along the lower-left perimeter and displacing parts of the beaded border. The reverse carries Mexico’s national emblem with an eagle gripping a serpent while standing on a prickly pear cactus, framed by oak and laurel branches, ribbon and ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS legend; this side is likewise noticeably displaced by the error. Combining Mexican history, a prominent national figure and a highly visible production anomaly, this MS65 coin is an appealing specialist collectible.
