This 1977 Mexico 20 Centavos coin is an unusual mint error featuring a clearly visible clipped planchet and certified PCGS MS65. Struck in copper-nickel, it combines classic Mexican national imagery with the added appeal of an authentic production error. The portrait side presents Francisco I. Madero facing right, recognizable by his beard and formal jacket, together with the 1977 date, Mo Mexico City mint mark and large 20¢ denomination. Several curved areas of missing metal along the rim reveal the incomplete planchet created before striking. The opposite side displays Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle with spread wings grasping a serpent while perched on a prickly pear cactus, with detailed cactus pads, branches and foliage below, surrounded by the ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS legend. Madero, president from 1911 to 1913, played a central role in Mexico’s democratic movement and the opening phase of the Mexican Revolution. The high MS65 grade and dramatic clipped-planchet character make this a distinctive addition to a Mexican error collection.
