This 2004 Mexico 2 Onzas Libertad is a .999 fine silver bullion coin certified PCGS MS66, presenting Mexico’s celebrated symbols of independence and national identity. The reverse depicts the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing atop the Independence Column with extended arm, flowing drapery and finely modeled feathered wings. Behind the monument rise the distinctive Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes above a detailed valley with fields, agave and prickly pear cactus. The inscriptions identify 2 ONZAS PLATA PURA, the 2004 date and LEY .999, together with the Mexico City Mint mark. The obverse centers on Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle grasping a serpent while perched on a prickly pear cactus, surrounded by oak and laurel branches. Ten historic forms of the Mexican national emblem form an outer circle, displaying changing interpretations of eagles, serpents, cactus plants, wreaths and branches. Certified PCGS MS66, this impressive Libertad combines high-grade preservation, iconic artwork and strong appeal for Mexican and world silver collectors.
