This 2002 Mexico 2 Onzas Libertad is a .999 fine silver bullion coin certified PCGS MS65, combining Mexico’s celebrated Libertad design with independent professional grading. The reverse portrays the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing atop the Independence Column with outstretched feathered wings, extended arm and flowing drapery. Behind the monument rise Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl above a detailed valley landscape, with fields, agave and prickly pear cactus completing the scene. The inscriptions include 2 ONZAS PLATA PURA, 2002, LEY .999 and the Mexico City Mint mark. The obverse presents Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle grasping a serpent while perched on a prickly pear cactus, framed by oak and laurel branches. Around it are ten historic versions of the Mexican eagle emblem, displaying changing combinations of eagles, serpents, cactus plants and wreaths. Preserved in a PCGS holder and graded MS65, this impressive Libertad offers strong appeal for collectors of Mexican silver, national symbols and certified bullion.
