This 1992 Mexico 10,000 Pesos Piedra de Tizoc coin from the Precolombina series is a substantial .999 fine silver issue certified PCGS MS67. The reverse presents imagery inspired by the famous Aztec Stone of Tizoc, with two elaborately dressed figures facing one another. Their intricate feathered headdresses, ear ornaments, necklaces, patterned garments, belts, sandals, circular shield, weapons and ceremonial objects showcase the complexity of Pre-Columbian artistic symbolism. The scene is accompanied by the 1992 date, Mexico City Mint mark, PIEDRA DE TIZOC title and $10000 denomination, while repeating glyph-like motifs form a broad decorative border. The obverse features Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle gripping a serpent while standing on a prickly pear cactus, with oak and laurel branches tied below. ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, 5 ONZAS DE PLATA and LEY 0.999 complete the design. The Stone of Tizoc is an important Aztec monument associated with ruler Tizoc and carved scenes of conquest. Graded an exceptional MS67 by PCGS, this impressive coin combines Aztec heritage, Mexican numismatic art and outstanding preservation.
