This Mexico 100 Pesos 2004 bimetallic coin from the Federation States series is dedicated to Quintana Roo, the southeastern state on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. The obverse presents the official Quintana Roo coat of arms in the silver-colored center: a shield divided into three fields with a stylized conch shell, five-pointed star and three triangular forms above horizontal lines, while a rising sun with radiating rays crowns the shield. The date 2004 appears below. The golden-colored ring carries ESTADO DE QUINTANA ROO, the Mo Mexico City mint mark, $100 denomination and a dotted border. The reverse displays Mexico’s national coat of arms, with a finely feathered eagle grasping a snake while standing on a prickly pear cactus with multiple pads and fruits. Oak and laurel branches tied by a ribbon frame the lower section beneath ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS. Quintana Roo is known for its Caribbean coastline and Maya cultural heritage, while its state emblem incorporates regional symbols in a distinctive geometric composition. This First Edition bimetallic issue, KM-736, is an attractive addition for collectors of Mexican states, heraldry and modern world coinage.
