This 1998 Mexico 10 Pesos Republic coin, KM-616, is a striking bimetallic issue certified MS65 by PCGS, combining ancient Aztec symbolism with the national imagery of modern Mexico. The denomination side features a detailed section of the Aztec Sun Stone, centered on the distinctive face with large outlined eyes, nose, mouth, teeth, ear ornaments and projecting tongue. Surrounding it are radial panels filled with stylized human and animal heads, circular glyphs, geometric forms and intricate pre-Columbian symbols. The golden-colored outer ring bears $10, the 1998 date and Mo mint mark, with a stepped decorative border around the rim. The opposite side displays Mexico’s national coat of arms: a powerful eagle with individually defined wing and tail feathers holds a twisting serpent while standing on a prickly pear cactus. Cactus pads, fruits and branching stems appear below, complemented by oak and laurel foliage tied with a ribbon and the legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS. PCGS MS65 certification and the rich bimetallic design make this an attractive Mexican collectible.
