This 1992 Mexico 10 Pesos Republic coin, KM-553, is a distinctive bimetallic issue certified AU58 by PCGS, combining modern Mexican currency design with imagery rooted in the nation’s ancient heritage. The denomination side centers on a detailed section of the Aztec Sun Stone, dominated by the frontal face with large eyes, nose, mouth and projecting tongue. Around it are concentric panels filled with stylized faces, glyph-like symbols, circles and geometric pre-Columbian motifs. The contrasting golden outer ring carries N$10, the date 1992, Mo mint mark, DIEZ NUEVOS PESOS and a patterned border. The opposite side displays Mexico’s national coat of arms: a powerful eagle with layered feathers and extended wing holds a curved serpent while standing on a prickly pear cactus. Individual cactus pads and fruits are clearly rendered beneath the bird, while oak and laurel branches with leaves and a tied ribbon complete the composition. ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS follows the upper rim. The combination of Aztec symbolism, national emblems and two-tone construction makes this PCGS-certified coin an appealing addition to Mexican and world collections.
