This Mexico 1 Peso “Caballito” silver coin of 1910, KM-453, was issued for the 100th anniversary of the Grito de Dolores and is certified AU55 by PCGS. Struck in .903 silver, it belongs to one of Mexico’s most celebrated commemorative designs. The reverse portrays Liberty riding a galloping horse, raising a flaming torch while holding an oak branch; radiating lines and a rising sun emphasize movement and the dawn of independence, with 1910 below. The obverse displays the historic Mexican eagle with spread wings, grasping a snake while standing on a prickly pear cactus rising from a rock in a lake. Laurel and olive branches frame the base beside UN PESO, while ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS surrounds the emblem. Designed by French medalist Charles Pillet, the coin commemorates Miguel Hidalgo’s 1810 call that initiated Mexico’s struggle for independence. With a 1910 mintage of 3,814,000 and PCGS AU55 certification, this historic Caballito is a compelling piece of Mexican numismatics.
