This 1998 Mexico 1 Onza Libertad silver coin, KM-613, is a classic Mexican bullion issue certified MS 67 by PCGS. Struck in .999 fine silver, it combines national symbolism with one of Mexico’s most recognizable numismatic designs. The reverse portrays the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing atop her monumental column, with finely feathered wings spread dramatically and one arm extended. Flowing drapery surrounds the figure, while the famous volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl dominate the background above a detailed valley with foothills, fields, vegetation and cactus plants. The inscriptions “1 ONZA PLATA PURA,” 1998, “LEY .999” and the Mexican Mint mark identify the issue. The obverse displays Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle with powerful spread wings grasping a snake while standing on a prickly pear cactus, framed below by oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon. Its superb PCGS MS 67 grade adds significant collector appeal to this iconic Mexican silver Libertad.
