This 1990 Mexico 1 Onza Libertad, KM#494.2, is a .999 fine silver bullion coin certified PCGS MS 65 and distinguished by the celebrated early Libertad design. The obverse depicts the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing with magnificent feathered wings fully extended. She raises a laurel wreath in her right hand while holding broken chains in her left, powerful symbols of victory and freedom. Her flowing drapery is rendered in fine relief, with the volcanic peaks Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl forming the landscape behind. The inscriptions include 1 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 1990, MEXICO and LEY .999, together with the Mexican Mint mark. The reverse presents Mexico’s national coat of arms: a majestic eagle with spread wings grasping a serpent while perched on a prickly pear cactus. Detailed cactus pads and fruit, oak and laurel branches, a tied ribbon and the surrounding national legend enrich the heraldic composition. Graded PCGS MS 65, this Libertad combines Mexican independence, history, wildlife and iconic national symbolism.
