This 1997 Mexico 1/2 Onza Libertad silver coin, certified PCGS MS69, presents the celebrated Mexican Libertad design in an exceptionally high Mint State grade. The reverse features the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing on her monumental column with finely detailed wings, flowing drapery and a wreath raised in her right hand. Behind the figure rise the volcanic peaks Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl above the Valley of Mexico, with vegetation and landscape details below. The inscriptions include 1/2 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 1997, LEY .999 and the Mexican Mint mark. The obverse depicts Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle with spread wings gripping a serpent while perched on a fruit-bearing prickly pear cactus. Oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon complete the emblem beneath the ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS legend. Struck in .999 fine silver and graded MS69 by PCGS, this 1997 Libertad offers outstanding certified quality and enduring Mexican national symbolism for an advanced world coin collection.
