Mexico 1/2 onza Libertad Angel of Independence KM-545 PF 69 NGC silver coin 1994

This 1994 Mexico 1/2 Onza Libertad silver coin, KM-545, certified NGC PF69, is an impressive Proof example of the classic Mexican Libertad design. The reverse portrays the Winged Victory, or Angel of Independence, standing on her column with finely detailed feathered wings spread wide, flowing drapery and a raised hand holding a laurel wreath. The volcanic peaks Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl form the mountainous background. Legends include 1/2 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 1994, MEXICO, LEY .999 and the Mexican Mint mark. The obverse displays Mexico’s national coat of arms: an eagle with powerful spread wings grips a serpent in its beak and talon while perched on a fruit-bearing prickly pear cactus. Oak and laurel branches tied with a ribbon appear below, surrounded by “ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.” Struck in .999 fine silver with brilliant Proof surfaces and graded PF69 by NGC, this near-top-grade Libertad combines exceptional eye appeal with iconic Mexican national imagery.
