This Mauritius 20 Rupees silver coin from 1997, KM-64, celebrates the royal family through a detailed composition featuring Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip and Prince Charles. One side presents a formal bust of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, Mauritius’s first Prime Minister, wearing glasses, a suit, shirt and tie, with his name and honorific title arranged around the portrait. The opposite side depicts Queen Elizabeth II bending tenderly over the infant Prince Charles, surrounded by richly modeled bedding, fabric folds and floral decoration. Her necklace, brooch, ring and carefully rendered clothing add exceptional detail. A gold-colored shield inscribed “PRINCE CHARLES 1948” stands beside the scene, while a flowing decorative motif appears at right.
