Malta Order 500 liras Wise Men Magi Balthazar Camel PR67 PCGS silver coin ND

The Order of Malta 500 Liras Balthazar silver coin is an impressive undated Proof issue inspired by the Biblical Magi and the journey to Bethlehem. The main design portrays Balthazar as a richly dressed Wise Man wearing a turban and long robe, holding a precious gift vessel set with a contrasting golden-colored insert. Above him shines the Star of Bethlehem amid a field of smaller stars, while a camel, its attendant and distant Middle Eastern-style architecture complete the desert landscape. The opposite side displays the heraldic emblem of the Sovereign Hospitaller Order of Malta: an eight-pointed Maltese cross within a circular shield, surrounded by laurel branches and surmounted by an ornate crown and small cross. A ribbon and crossed elements complete the heraldic composition. Struck in silver with Proof Deep Cameo finish and certified PCGS PR67DCAM, this 500 Liras piece combines Christian history, Magi iconography, heraldry and ceremonial art in a distinctive collectible.
