The Malta 10 Euro silver coin of 2014 commemorates the 50th anniversary of Maltese independence, achieved in 1964. This KM-165 issue is certified PCGS PR69 and combines an important national milestone with striking Proof craftsmanship. The commemorative side depicts Prime Minister George Borg Olivier raising the Independence documents above his head, dressed in a formal suit and tie. Behind him appears text from the Malta Independence Order, while the dates 1964 and 2014, the 10 Euro denomination and anniversary reference complete the historical composition. Borg Olivier played a central political role in negotiations leading to Malta becoming an independent sovereign state on 21 September 1964. The reverse features a red-and-white enameled Maltese shield surrounded by an elaborate circular wreath with four decorative clasps, together with Malta and the anniversary dates. Fine concentric lines enrich the outer field. Struck in silver with a Proof finish and graded PCGS PR69, this attractive coin unites independence, political history, national colors and symbolic art in a desirable certified Maltese collectible.
