The Maldives 250 Rufiyaa 1993 Skylab silver coin is a dramatic commemorative celebrating space exploration and the pioneering Skylab orbital station. The reverse presents Skylab above the curved horizon of Earth, with the spacecraft rendered in impressive technical detail: a large cylindrical orbital workshop, circular docking end, structural framework and broad segmented solar-panel arrays extending outward. Skylab was the first United States space station, launched in 1973 and used by three astronaut crews for scientific experiments, solar observations and studies of human life in orbit. The obverse features the Maldives national emblem, composed of a finely engraved coconut palm, large crescent and five-pointed star, two national flags on crossed poles and a ribbon banner, accompanied by the 1993 date. Bright silver surfaces and strong relief highlight both the mechanical spacecraft design and traditional national symbols. An excellent collectible for enthusiasts of Skylab, astronomy, spacecraft, space history and Maldivian numismatics.
