A new coin.
Malaysia’s 1986 5 Ringgit KM-40 silver commemorative coin celebrates the 35th Annual Conference of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), held in Malaysia from April 9–16, 1986. The conference side presents a playful turtle mascot with sunglasses, rounded head, flippers and feet, set against a circular disc. Its large oval shell carries the PATA 86 Malaysia emblem, while the conference theme and event dates frame the composition. The opposite side displays a prominent stylized 5 with an integrated currency symbol beneath Bank Negara Malaysia identification. Along the lower edge is a finely modeled curved branch of hibiscus, Malaysia’s national flower, with multiple open blossoms, buds, leaves and stems. The combination of tourism history, unusual mascot imagery and delicate botanical decoration gives the design special character. Struck in silver with a Proof finish and certified PCGS PR67, this KM-40 is an appealing collectible for enthusiasts of Malaysia, travel history, flora and commemorative coinage.
